Air Quality Awareness Week

Call us today for more information about our duct cleaning services!

Did you know that this week (April 29-May 3) is National Air Quality Awareness Week?

One way to improve the quality of the air in your home is to clean your HVAC ducts. These ducts are responsible for your homes heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, and also make sure the air in your home is filtered from dust, pollen, and other contaminates. It is recommended that your HVAC ducts be cleaned every 3-5 years, but if there is an accumulation of dust or other debris, cleaning may be needed more often. Here are a few signs that your ducts may be due to be cleaned:

  • there is visible mold growth around your vents
  • there is a buildup of dust and debris
  • there has been an infestation of insects, rodents, or other unwelcome vermin

If these signs are ignored, blockages could form in your ducts and create bigger or more expensive problems like mold or mildew growth in your home and higher utility bills due to your unit working twice as hard. Our highly trained and certified technicians at SERVPRO of Wilson/Nashville will make recommendations about the best ways to address your concerns regarding your indoor air quality.

For your Carpet Cleaning needs, try SERVPRO of Wilson/Nashville

Our technician, Josh is using our Portable Extractor and an Extracting Wand to perform this carpet cleaning.

As many already know, we are highly skilled and trained professionals when it comes to Mitigating and Restoring your Fire or Water damaged homes or business.  Our company also performs Mold Remediation, Sewage & Bio-hazard clean-ups.  However, there are other less-invasive services we can provide to Residents and Commercial Building Owners.

As pictured, one of our technicians is performing a Carpet Cleaning for a Nash County Government Building in Nashville.  We have 6 different Carpet Cleaning options and also provide Drapery & Upholstery Cleaning Services.

At the time of service, if you have not already obtained a Carpet Cleaning Estimate, then our Technicians will provide you with an estimated cost based on how large of an area is being cleaned and if there are any existing damages to the carpet (smoke, pets, etc.).

Once authorized by the Customer to begin services, the technicians will begin preparing the work area.  Furniture will be moved and a Pre-spray solution will be plaited ("raked") into the carpet to begin breaking down food and dirt particulates.

After the Pre-spray has been evenly distributed and thoroughly absorbed, the technician will then begin extracting the solution and particulates with hot water for a deep clean.  Due to the efficiency of our equipment the average drying time for carpet after a cleaning, such as this, is approximately 3 hours.

Our technicians take great care in resetting your furniture, therefore, the last step of our carpet cleaning service ends with our technicians placing wood blocks and furniture pads underneath the legs and feet of furniture.  This is very important, because it will keep any wood furniture from absorbing water and swelling.  It also keeps any upholstered furniture from "bleeding" on the carpet.

The "LUNG" Of Your Home

9/9/2016 (Permalink)

Servpro of Wilson/Nashville

We take great pride in keeping ourselves and our families healthy and happy, but what about your home?  Similarly to your body, your house has its own set of "Lungs" that need to be maintained and cared for regularly.  Your HVAC system and duct work are responsible for the air flow and filtration throughout your home.  If your home is "breathing" in dust, pollen and other contaminates, so are you and your family!

This may seem like a minor thing.  Something you could "push off until next year", or "do tomorrow".  However, this is one of the major causes of respiratory infections, allergies, and asthma attacks in the home.  Not to mention, have you seen how much it cost to replace or repair a damaged HVAC unit!

Ask yourself:

  • When was the last preventative maintenance tune-up performed for your home or business?
  • When was the last time I changed the air filters in my home or Office?

Most, if not all, HVAC equipment manufacturers recommend HVAC units be serviced Semi-annually/Annually.  They also suggest Duct Cleaning be done every 3 - 5 years.  However, Smokers and Pet Owners should consider cleaning once or twice a year because dust, dander, pollen and other contaminates floating through the air become lodged in filters and clog up drainage lines.  Blockages tend to cause secondary issues that could cost you more money in the future.  These issues include but are not limited to:

  • Water damage to your ceiling, floor or walls from clogged, overflowing drainage pans
  • Mold and mildew growth
  • Higher utility prices from making your unit work twice as hard to pull in and pump out air
  • Poor air quality - resulting in frequent doctor/hospital visits

In the end, overseeing regular maintenance and cleanings for your HVAC unit and Duct work will extend the life of the equipment, save you money, and give you cleaner air to breathe.

The SERVPRO Process:

  • The process begins by using patented equipment including a roto-scraper, which automatically adapts to the duct's shape and diameter while traveling through the duct, removing debris and filth before vacuuming begins
  • Next, a powerful push-pull air delivery and collection system transfers the debris from the ducting to a 16-gallon container.
  • Air is filtered through a HEPA filtration system, removing 97% of particles in the airstream. HEPA filters capture debris and keep the environment clean
  • A sealant or coating product may be sprayed to address odor or microbial concerns
  • Filters will either be cleaned or replaced to remove odor and dirt

Our highly trained and certified SERVPRO Technicians will make recommendations about the best way to address any indoor air quality concerns. This can save you money and help you breathe easier.
